My Detroit Pistons NBA Ranking + Trending Upwards/Downwards/Neutral for Upcoming Season

No playoffs for the Detroit Pistons last season under head coach Stan Van Gundy. They finished with a record of 32-50 which is good for 12th in the Eastern Conference. That gave the Detroit Pistons the 8th pick of the 2015 NBA Draft which they used on small forward Stanley Johnson from Arizona.

The Greg Monroe-Andre Drummond experiment failed and Monroe left Detroit for Milwaukee. The Pistons retained Reggie Jackson for a questionable amount of money (5yr/$80m). With Brandon Jennings returning from injury, I was wondering how they’ll handle the Reggie Jackson-Brandon Jennings situation since Reggie does NOT want to play off the bench. Brandon Jennings says he will play off the bench if the team needs him too. Sounds good in theory but who knows but him if he is actually okay with that. They were able to require Ersan Ilyasova from the Milwaukee Bucks for two players that the Bucks waived right away. Ersan is the stretch four that will fit way better next to Andre Drummond than Greg Monroe ever did. They also traded for forward Marcus Morris from the Phoenix Suns.

I think the Detroit Pistons are trending the same. They might beat their record from last season but they will not be in the playoffs this coming season. Losing a talent like Greg Monroe hurts but he never really fit their team anyway. I have the Detroit Pistons ranked #21 coming into this new season.
